On Sunday, March 2, after our fellowship meal we will have a time of study on the subject of elders.
We believe that the Bible clearly teachers that under Christ, the church is to be led by godly men qualified to be elders. These can include staff elders(paid by the church) and lay elders (employed outside of the church). We also know that some have questions about exactly what qualifies one to be an elder and what exactly elders do in the life of the church.
So, during this study we want to consider some biblical passages that deal with elders. Particularly 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4. We encourage you to read through these passages ahead of the meeting and write down any questions you might have. After we consider these texts we will consider what our constitution and bylaws say the elders function in the life of Redeemer. We will end our time with opportunity for questions about elders.
We ask that you spend time in prayer over the process of elder nominations asking God to give wisdom.
